Intern, Utility Vehicle Department
ANSYS, Inc - Canonsburg,PA
- Currently working in the Additive Manufacturing Testing Team which tests the Additive Suite of Products being – APDL, Workbench Additive, SpaceClaim, Additive Print and Additive Science. Adept at using MAPDL commands and the knowledge of Additive Process Parameters.
- Tested core mechanical features in WB Additive like – Contacts, Symmetry, Heat Treatment, Pretension, Fatigue and Layered Tetrahedron Mesh. Reviewed design specifications, performed exploratory testing keeping end customers in mind and created well documented test cases. Implemented python based regression test cases and journaling using the ACT console in WB.
- Tested Additive Print/Science features like Thermal Strain, Single Bead, Porosity and Microstructure. Assisted in the creation of verification manual test cases which evaluate the features against empirical data. Automated and integrated testing in the overall testing framework.
- Tested SpaceClaim – Additive Prep which was used exclusively for creating supports for 3D printed parts. Added end to end test cases which involve creating complex geometries using SpaceClaim, creating supports in Prep and then simulating the Additive Process in WB/APDL.
- Involved in the hiring of coops in the additive team, mentoring the coops and delegating tasks to them to work effectively as a team.
AZLoop - SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition II - ASU, Tempe,AZ
- Conceptualized the structure of the Pod and designed an integrated component assembly of the braking, levitation and lateral stability subsystems. Over 30 sub system components were designed and rendered using SolidWorks and Autodesk Fusion360.
- Carried out FEA and CFD and optimized the design iterations based on parameters like area, pod velocity, length using ANSYS Workbench.
- Created Design plans for the full scale manufacturing of the sub systems and individual components using HSM Works.
- Manufactured a positive mold for the pod using CNC machines on plywood. The outer shell made up of Carbon Fiber was molded on this.
- Devised a plan to make the chassis out of a single aluminum sheet. All parts were water jet cut and then assembled by welding them.
- Overall, the team was placed 6th of the 23 teams which qualified amongst more than 500 teams for the final round of the competition.
SAE Aero Design West - ASU, Tempe,AZ
- CAD Design and Simulations Team Member. Worked on the geometry of the wing to make a complete surface model using SolidWorks.
- Carried out CFD, structural and buckling simulations to optimize wing skeleton (ribs and spars) and reduce overall mass by more than 20%
- Worked on manufacturing the wing skeleton and using laser cutting, milling and the carbon fiber skin by vacuum molding the layers.
Teaching Aide & Grader - ASU, Tempe
- Developed solutions, reviewed and graded assignments of the coursework – MAE 214 Computer Aided Engineering for a class of 105 students which covers 2D drafting, surfacing, assemblies, drawing sheets, BOM, GD&T and parametric modeling in Solidworks.
TATA Motors Ltd - Pune, India
- Identified and evaluated any defects or probable failures due to unsafe proximities between various vehicle subsystems like transmission, steering, electrical, chassis, drivetrain and suspension to guarantee security and reliability. Identified and reported multiple defects.
- Audited vehicles as per given guidelines and collaborated with cross functional teams to devise an action plan for sustenance audits. Verified part drawings and worked on BOM validation. Was trained on World Class Quality, 5s, 5 Why, Six sigma methodology and Siemens PLM.
May' 2013 - July' 2013
Summer Intern
Godrej and Boyce - Goa, India
- Prototype Delta Robot - Designed a prototype 3 DOF Delta robot on SolidWorks to increase pick and place operations by at least 20%.
- Optimized the model as per constraints and programmed kinematics using MATLAB. Performed a dynamic force analysis using ANSYS.
- Fabricated it within a limited budget of 10K INR and integrated it with PLC for real time functioning.
